"Scotland The Bathe" skirled out from the pipes after this push -pull match dribbled to a conclusion. Scotland won 18-16 in a contest that was there for Italy to win. Very slack play by Italy allowed far too many penalties to be administered by 'Charlie Kaplan' (who wasn't too bad actually - he must be losing his touch...). I'm getting really fed up with the 'pro-speak' of managers/ coaches/ trainers/ nobodies etc who talk meaninglessly about the pressure of this and that, the spirit of Wee Willie McWinkie in training...body on the line blah blah blah! The curmudgeonly Frank Hadden was caught out with a smile on his face when Bortolussi pinged the ball wide of the posts toward the end of the bathing session...but we didn't notice that Frank, okay? You can get back to being miserable, viz. - he's arranged for his squad to have a sandpaper massage this morning, before a meal of raw haggis - followed by a drop of telly, a tart an a cuppa while watching France and South Africa win.
Is someone going to tell the truth...Scotland didn't deserve that win.
It's just unfortunate that Tim Henman was kicking...or should that be Bortolussi?! I couldn't really tell, but the talent's the same!!!! ooohhhh!!!

the truth is it was anybodys game to win and italy didnt! and a win is a win! whether by two points or not so well done scotland for hanging on in there oh and chris patterson for his amazing kicking!

Straight through Troncon's heart!
He was seeing it all...Italy through to the semis, it was there within reach...and then it was gone!
A win may be a win, but the Azzurris can leave the game with their heads held high, because they deserve(d) it.

I totally agree with emilie, italy were the better team and unfortunately they didnt go through. Scotland had the upper hand well leg when it came down to the kicking!!! Annie no point writing "Annie scotland", as they will most probably be out next week!!! :)

Hi Charlene - I think Itlay threw away a game which they had control over...just that continuous Scottish pressure made life very difficult when it came down to the vital decision making. Either you take a game that's tight or you don't. Italy didn't.

Oh - and another thing - let people support who they want to - I was well up for the effort of USA this evening. Everyone expected them to get wiped out by South Africa but they gave of their best, which is a feeling I don't always get when I watch England play for example! It is a game and we all want our countries to win. We must also be objective and see better for what it is - better than the other team on the day...

Emilie-Ecosse
Annie-Azzuri
